On April 22, 2000, the Tau Delta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, became the first Black Greek organization at Loyola Marymount University. We contribute our success to our 6 phenomenal charter members. These young women wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities.Their aim was to create an organization of women dedicated to sisterhood, public service, and scholarship. Since our inception Tau Delta has made a steadfast commitment to the betterment of the black community on our campus. From the time Tau Delta was created it has been a wonderful sisterhood striving to uphold the ideals of the founders.
